Fruit Talk

Not only do I love fruit, I also love talking about fruit. I offer free fruit talks to all of my clients (let's be honest, you don't even have to be a client). I believe education is a big part of helping people appreciate and consume more fruit. Besides nutrition and practical advice on when and how to eat different fruit, the talk tends to be a hodgepodge of philosophy, fruit facts and fruit-loving propaganda.

Fruit Baskets

Fruit is made for sharing, and there is simply no better way to show someone you care than to give them a basket of seasonal farm fresh fruit. As with all fruit that I deliver, it is hand-picked and sourced entirely from the farmer's market.

$20-50 Depending on size, and types of fruit. Includes delivery.

Lotion

I started making lotion a few years ago because there are so few options for purists. Not only do even the most organic and most hippie lotions often contain preservatives, but they certainly never reflect my philosophical values. Over the years I have nearly perfected my recipes and I am ready to share them with the public. All the ingredients I use are organic. These are the variations:

Standard Ointment
Avocado oil, ghee (clarified butter), sea buckthorn oil, red palm fruit oil, rosehip fruit oil, lanolin, beeswax.
This is the standard oil and wax base that I use to make all the other lotions.

Standard Lotion
Avocado oil, ghee (clarified butter), sea buckthorn oil, red palm fruit oil, rosehip fruit oil, lanolin, beeswax, mineral salt, water.
With the addition of water, this becomes a true moisturizer/lotion. The salt improves absorption and the feeling of the lotion, and also helps mineralize the skin.

Lotion Plus
Avocado oil, ghee (clarified butter), sea buckthorn oil, red palm fruit oil, rosehip fruit oil, lanolin, beeswax, mineral salt, water, whey.
I recommend this lotion the most. The whey contains lactic acid, which acts as a mild exfoliant, and a lot of protein, which nourishes and replenishes the skin. The acid also helps the protein penetrate into the skin. The one major drawback, however, is that this lotion needs to be refrigerated. Without refrigeration, this lotion stays good for one week. Refrigerated, it will last 3 months.

SPF Ointment
Avocado oil, ghee (clarified butter), sea buckthorn oil, red palm fruit oil, rosehip fruit oil, lanolin, beeswax, mineral salt, zinc oxide.
There are two types of SPF: physical (zinc oxide), and chemical (everything else). Chemical protectants work by actually absorbing UV rays, and therefore physically react on the skin. There is a lot of research that shows that these ingredients are carcinogenic, and do more harm than good in protecting the skin. Zinc oxide works by simply reflecting the UV radiation away. This does mean that it leaves a white residue, which is the physical protection. Not everyone will accept this trade-off, but this is the safest method of sun protection, Certainly recommended for kids.

Antimicrobial Ointment
Avocado oil, ghee (clarified butter), sea buckthorn oil, red palm fruit oil, rosehip fruit oil, lanolin, beeswax, silver.
Because salt oxidizes silver, it is removed in this formula. Silver is naturally antimicrobial. It has been used since ancient times, and continues to be used in hospitals today. It works on all fungi, bacteria and viruses.

Bronzing Ointment
Avocado oil, ghee (clarified butter), sea buckthorn oil, red palm fruit oil, rosehip fruit oil, beeswax, lanolin, mineral salt, water.
This has the same ingredients as the Standard Lotion, but more sea buckthorn, red palm fruit, and rosehip oils. These are all very red oils, that contain very high levels of beta carotene, which is what gives all the lotions their signature orange color. In higher concentration they will leave your skin looking darker after application. Careful: this lotion will also stain clothing and sheets. However, unlike artificial bronzer, this lotion will also help your skin to tan naturally on its own over time. Beta carotene is the biochemical precursor to melanin, and as it penetrates into the skin it allows for the skin to acquire color more easily when exposed to sunlight.

All ointments and lotions are $10/oz.
